Available to download Windows 10 Technical Preview

It is available from a few minutes downloading the installation of Windows 10 : Technical Preview. This version can only be installed on x86 machines.

Last night, Microsoft unveiled the main features of the Technical Preview of Windows 10, the successor to Windows 8. The first surprise regards its name: it was expected Microsoft Windows 9 and instead chose to skip this release number.

The reason for this choice has not been officially declared, but it is assumed that this is a major turning point for the Redmond company has decided to give a point of discontinuity.

Windows 10 will be installed on all types of devices: It will have a common core smartphone, tablet PC and also allowing these devices to share the same app. And this is the main new feature that will be implemented with the release of Windows 10 by the end of 2015.

At present, it is possible to download the Technical Preview dedicated to x86 systems but to access this resource you need to sign up for the Windows Insider Program. The download link is this, and the reference page published by Microsoft can be reached here.

Before you start the download, you will see a product key that must be kept and then proceed to the installation. In the course of the presentation, Microsoft did not refer to the minimum system requirements and only now we learn from the FAQ as provided by the developer. Here we list the basic data:

  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
  • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
  • Free hard disk space: 16 GB.

This is certainly not of particularly high requirements and the element to which pay more attention is that related to the free space for storage. These details should also allow the upgrade to Windows 10 to Windows 8 with a variety of systems.
