DJI presents Spark, the little drone of wonders

Today DJI, through a live conference in New York, has officially presented it. Spark is a small drone but really full of functions. Starting with its dimensions, measure 143 x 143 x 55mm (with retractable propellers) and weighs 300g.

This small body incorporates a 2-axis mechanical gimbal to which a camera with 1/2.3″ sensor is capable of producing 1080/30p video and 12MP photos. The equivalent focal length is 25mm with an aperture of f/2.6.

Although the video capabilities do not exactly shout the miracle, the drone is full of sensors and automatic programs. There are GPS, the 3D vision bar system and the visual positioning system with ultrasonic sensors to keep the ground level (Up to 30m).

Speaking of automatic programs, Spark allows us to perform professional shooting at the touch of a button. The QuickShot modes are: Rocket (the drone rises up to 90 degrees), Dronie (the drone rises upward while going backward, still hooked to the subject to resume), Circle (the drone makes circular movements to the hooked subject) And finally Helix (the drone performs spirals around the subject, rising altitude too).

But automatic flight programs are not over, in addition to the ever-present RTH (base return function) we have the flight to coordinate (press one point on the map) or Direction (the drone continues to fly in the steep direction with the tap on the screen). There are also two subject tracking modes: Trace mode resumes the subject frontally while the drone moves backward while Profile mode drone resumes the hooked profile subject by running a ” track “.

There are also gestures that allow you to take a shot without the remote control (shaking hands, raising your arms, or gesturing with your hands) or controlling the movement of the drone through your palm (small forward shifts, Back and side) as well as the possibility of taking off and landing on the palm of the hand.

The DJI Spark includes a video transmission system up to 2Km and can be run independently of the smartphone (limited to 100m) or remote controller (similar to Mavic Pro) but is also compatible with DJI Goggles. The 1480mAh battery guarantees 16 minutes of flight and the maximum reachable speed is 50Km/h (in Sport mode).

Spark is available in 5 colors (White, Green, Orange, Red and Blue) and is already on sale at the price of $499 with delivery set from June 15th. There is no remote control in the box, and the charger is normal (not fast).

DJI has provided the Fly More pack including the radio remote control, 8 propellers (2 in the other version), the helix, 2 batteries, the fast charger with the base to charge up to 3 batteries and a shoulder bag, all at $699 always with delivery from June 15th.
