Google would like to implement an ” always active ” Ambient Display on the new Pixel

The novelty of the active display for displaying the notifications is without doubt one of the most useful implementations made by the manufacturers. In this case, Google would seem ready to implement it in the next Pixel with a specific Ambient Display.

Being able to see in the immediate aftermath, perhaps with one glance, the notification you get on your smartphone without having to turn it on is undoubtedly a convenient feature that many users no longer have to do without them.

No colored LEDs can replace a display that even though the standby still illuminates a few pixels in such a way as to propose time information such as missed calls or maybe various messages or notifications. The first to do so were Nokia and Motorola, which thanks to the Moto Display and Glance functionality enabled 360 degree information to be obtained.

The so-called Ambient Display always turned on but later came with LG first and Samsung after which they decided to implement it in a different mode from Motorola and Nokia. Yes, because in this case, they decided for an ” always-onAmbient Display, that is, with the information always active so that it does not have to be implemented with special activations via front or motion sensors. In this case, this would seem to attract Google’s attention to its new Pixel implementation, enabling users not to lose any notification on their device.

The news comes directly from some XDA users, who by implementing some applications following the Android O Developer Preview 3 have been able to find some important references in their own code that can be attributed to the ” always-on ” function coupled with the Ambient Display. This is not a novelty for Android, but in this case, it could offer its users a more complete version of that look odiously in the various Samsung and LG range tops.

According to XDA developers at the time, the new feature is hidden and nothing active on Android O, but it is clear that Google may have ” closed ” it to not fully unlock that implementation at least until the launch of the new Mountain top range company View. The information on the new smartphones of the company is still not many and unclear.

Second generation Pixels should have a fully borderless display on the false line of the various Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. In addition to this, it is clear that they get a hardware upgrade with the latest generation processors such as the Snapdragon 835 but also the addition of a fully touch back panel to which Android O could provide original and useful features.
