How to export your iTunes library

If you find you need to export the iTunes library to know that the program of the Apple allows you to do this without having to do it manually.

In this way, you will keep unalterable without having to update the library again. The procedure runs on both Windows PC and Mac.

1.) In order to export your iTunes library as the first thing you need to consolidate. In that case all audio, video and multimedia that are located in different folders are grouped in a single library folder, C:UsersusernameMusiciTunes. Launch iTunes and choose from the main menu item Edit and then Preferences. This will open a new window from which you must select the Advanced tab

2.) Check the item Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to the library and press OK to transfer all files. Now go to File / Library / Organize your iTunes library, once you open the new window tick the item Consolidate and Reorganize file documents in iTunes Media folder for data to be consolidated and remain intact. Once the consolidation can proceed with the export of the library.

3.) Exit programmas iTunes and go to the folder where the files are stored: For Windows 7/Vista =>  C:UsersusernameMusiciTunes, Windows XP => C:DocumentsandSettingsUserNameMyDocumentsMyMusic while for Mac => Users/username/Music  . Select the folder with the right mouse button and make a copy and paste to transfer it to an external hard drive. The copy can now be transferred to another PC without variation.

4.) Copy the folder to the default folder of iTunes making sure that the program is not running iTunes on the PC where you are downloading. Once copied, press the Shift or Option if you use Mac and launch iTunes by simply pressing its icon. You will open a new window where you have to select the Choose Library. Select the folder you just copied, and you have all the files in the same order in which you had set them.
