iPhone 8 will finally support fast recharging

According to the latest corridor rumors, the next apple phone could incorporate a 10W USB charger into the original device end cap.

The news is not brand new, but has been confirmed by new sources. In the past few months, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities said that the iPhone 8, the 5.8-inch OLED display smartphone Apple will announce by the end of the year will have a Lightning Power Supply with USB Type-C and fast charging support. The confirmation comes from Blayne Curtis, Barclays analyst, who indicates that the power supply in question will be 10 W.

This will be equipped with a USB Type-C connector, and an energy management chip manufactured by Cypress Semiconductor. For the sake of accuracy, the chip is identified with the CYPD2104 tag, so it is the same as, we are on the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro. In this way, the iPhone 8 could be the first apple phone to integrate quick charging, like many other models of competition and not just the 10.5-inch iPad, but also the oldest 12.9-inch model.

” We believe Apple can install a Cypress Semiconductor power management chip for the iPhone 8 and a chip in the supplied power supply (probably a new 10W model that could use a more standard solution Integrated with Cypress Power Delivery), ” writes the analyst. If confirmed, Apple could be charged ” quickly ” even with the 29W USB-C connector for the MacBook.

If Apple deploys this feature, it is very likely that it will insert a compatible power supply into the original gadget, abandoning the historical and slower Lightning Adapter 5W alone with a USB port. A standard Type-A USB and Type-C adapter could also be included in the box. According to rumors, the new iPhone could have a two-cell battery and 2,700 mAh L-shaped, so quick recharging could allow very low wait times.

In the next device, we may also find support for wireless recharging, according to officially unrecognized entries.
