Lenovo speaks of a notebook concept with folding display

During a presentation in New York, Lenovo showed a slider in which he anticipates a future dress that could take the notebook of the future, or at least some model for particular use. The screen is foldable and commands with voice and pen.

It’s fascinating to find out what’s boiling in the pot of some technology-intensive companies, since they are often prototypes that are definitely innovative at least at the concept level. Whether these then translate or not into something, concrete is another matter, but interest remains.

The most-recent case concerns a really special notebook shown in a slide by Lenovo at a conference held in New York these days. This is a rendering, of course, but the basic concept is really intriguing. You will notice the presence of a keypad with trackpads typical of ThinkPad solutions, as well as the flexible display that is definitely the focus of interest.

Solutions of this kind have already been shown by others, without any hitherto something far-reaching in the market. Technology is making progress, and it is not excluded that we can see something like that already starting in 2019.

Extreme subtlety makes us think of unreliable components (everything is passively cooled) but surely more than enough to satisfy a good part of the needs of those sitting in front of a PC. Probably very small will also be the weight, if everything can translate one day into something concrete.

Being a futuristic prototype, Lenovo is also unbalanced in interaction mode: in addition to the normal keyboard, this phantom notebook can count on advanced voice and input controls via the pen, but probably with any object that is comfortably in hand (the normal pencil would be explained portrayed in the image).

Dream? Reality? For now, it is certainly a simple conceptual prototype, but it is always interesting to understand what future technology can be, many of which are intended to clash against the raw reality of technological or feasibility-related costs.
