OS X Yosemite 10.10.4 Update

During the big launch of Apple Music, it went a bit more muted the new release for OS X Yosemite, updating 10.10.4. This version does not include a big change at this point only the prerogative of El Capitan, focusing instead on the latest bugfix to do (unless a subsequent 10.10.5) before moving the ball in the fall.

Below the official list in areas of intervention :

  • Improves reliability of the network.
  • Improves reliability of Migration Assistant.
  • It resolves an issue that prevented the proper functioning of some external monitors.
  • It improves reliability while updating the library in iPhoto and Aperture photos.
  • Improves reliability when syncing photos and videos with the photo library iCloud.
  • It fixes an issue that caused the crash of photos after importing some Leica DNG files.
  • It addresses an issue that could cause a delay when sending outgoing mail messages in Mail.
  • It fixes a bug in which a website could present repeated warnings JavaScript in Safari, preventing users from leaving the web page.

Among these, the most anticipated by many was surely the first point on the network. The reintroduction of the old process mDNSResponder instead of problematic discoveryd that was introduced with its own Yosemite should solve the troubles that have hit a good share of Mac users after upgrading from previous versions.

OS X 10.10.4 Update

The increased reliability of mDNSResponder seems also earned him the permanence in El Capitan, at least in the current state of the Developer Preview 2. The upgrade to 10.10.4 can be downloaded from the special section of the Mac App Store and it is recommended to install as soon as possible except for any individual cases involving the postponement to a later date.
