The diffusion of the display with 4K resolution has as natural evolution expected for the next few years a gradual move towards models characterized by a resolution of 8K. The new standard of the future will follow an evolution similar to that which had the 4K standard earlier than Full HD, and even before that Full HD compared to standard definition.
The 8K screens are characterized by a number of pixels equal to 4 times that of 4K panels; consequently, the number of pixels that compose them is equal to 16 times that of a Full HD screen.
A recent report formulated by Display Supply Chain Consultants and Insight Media shows that over the next 5 years, the number of televisions with 8K resolution will increase to reach 6 million, with prices continuing to decline. Forecasts indicate prices for the 8-inch diagonal panels with 8K resolution, equal to $ 595 against the $ 1,000 required at the moment for 4K panels of the same diagonal.
The diffusion of new standards in terms of resolution of the screens certainly passes from the technological evolution, but it also requires a constant development from the content side. The summer Olympics of 2020, to be held in Tokyo, will be the first to be recorded and transmitted with 8K signal thanksĀ to the efforts of the Japanese NHK.
We can in any case expect a path of evolution similar to that recorded in recent years with the transition from Full HD to 4K, with streaming content via the web that will presumably remain the most-usedĀ form for sharing videos on different devices.
