GoPro has announced its new action camera, GoPro Hero6 Black. Externally identical to version 5, it implements important innovations under the body: as usual GoPro has chosen to leave unchanged the external form factor for this range of action cam, so as to maintain full compatibility with all the accessories on the market.
The main news is related to the ability to shoot at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, twice the previous limit of 30 fps. GoPro has also implemented a system of image stabilization even at 4K resolution, although only at 30fps and not at 60fps: previously, this functionality was available but limited to shooting at 2.7K resolution.
More than the increase in shooting capabilities, in GoPro Hero6 Black worked to improve the quality of recorded images thanks mainly to the adoption of a new processing chip: it is the GoPro G1 model, which takes the place of the previous solution generation used by the company for several years now. Where this innovation is felt on the final quality is in shooting under low-light conditions and when there are strong contrasts of lighting.
GoPro Hero6 Black is offered at an official price of $399, with immediate availability on the market.
