Seagate and Western Digital are the companies that hold almost the entire hard disk market; if in the past, there were also dozens of companies that sold rotary discs, today everything is reduced to a very small number of competitors, following acquisitions, bankruptcies and market strategies. As usual, in the storage world and especially in mechanical hard disks, the ads usually concern either a new family, or an extension of the range with larger units.
Today, we are in the second case, with Seagate committed to communicate the presentation of three units of 12TB belonging respectively to the families BarraCuda Pro, Ironwolf and Ironwolf Pro. The series BarraCuda is historically destined to the desktop world, but the addition of the Pro testifies the presence of above-average characteristics.
The warranty is 5 years against the 2 years of the normal BarraCuda models, as well as the availability of higher cuts (the simple ones stop at 4TB and 5TB).
The new 12TB units have already been commercialized, and we will soon find them in the price lists and on the shelves of specialized shops.
