Tamron presented a new and interesting ultra-telephoto lens, indicated by the code 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 VC USD, intended for use on Canon and Nikon cameras both full frame and APS-C / DX. The abbreviation VC, as per Tamron tradition, indicates Vibration Compensation, that is to say, the presence of an optical stabilizer able to compensate 4 stops, according to the company.
The optical scheme includes three LD elements (Low Dispersion) designed to effectively reduce aberrations, while in an anti-glare function, we find the eBAND coating developed by Tamron. Of note is the construction of some parts in magnesium, in order to reduce the total weight to 1115 grams, which make the new Tamron canvas the lightest in its class.
To speed up the focus, a Dual MPU high-speed micro processor is integrated, while the presence of a tropicalization system, which guarantees protection against splashes of water and dust, cannot be omitted. As it can be seen from the code, the focal length referred to the full-frame fee ranges from 100mm to 400mm, with maximum apertures of F/4.5 and F/6.3 respectively.
Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 VC USD is compatible with Tamron’s 1.4x focal multiplier and with the TAP-in Console accessory, which allows you to customize different settings such as focus and mechanism. vibration compensation (VC).
The tripod holder compatible with Arca Swiss is also available. The press release does not mention prices, but on some German sources we have found the figure of about $799, to be taken with the appropriate precautions as not communicated officially.
