TechRadar reports a slip in the debut of Mate X, Huawei’s first foldable smartphone. Initially shown last February at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, this product was expected to debut in September but will be delayed further.
The new launch date has not yet been officially indicated by the company, but it should be November. A period of this type would be compatible with the almost need to be able to offer this product on the market in time for the Christmas sales season, without forgetting the Chinese New Year period which follows a little over 1 month.
Confirmed the technical characteristics, with the 8-inch screen featuring a resolution of 2.480×2.200 pixels and a ratio between the sides of 8:7. According to TechRadar, Huawei has had to perform a partial review of the product design compared to what was shown at the Mobile World Congress. The Falcon Hinge slightly changes, the mechanism that allows the screen to bend, as well as implementing a smaller lock button.
Huawei Mate X was initially shown at the MWC in Barcelona, with a debut scheduled for mid-year. Huawei later announced a first slip for September, and the latest news brings the launch date in November. At this point, Samsung should be the first company to start marketing a foldable smartphone with its Galaxy Fold.
Also this product had a difficult gestation, with various resistance problems highlighted by the first tests that led to a delay in sales and following the introduction of various modifications aimed at making the smartphone more robust. Certainly, a complicated genesis is one of the first foldable smartphones, to which the public of the users looks with a lot of interest in spite of the purchase prices decidedly not popular.
