Vivo X20 Plus UD

The first smartphone with fingerprint sensor below the display is official. Both called Vivo X20 Plus UD and company after having announced it at CES in Las Vegas 2018, has officially introduced it to the whole world.

The company has used the new chip created specifically by Synaptics that precisely takes the name of Clear ID FS9500 and allows user to unlock new smartphone with his finger and from the front but without actually ” seeing ” presence of sensor.

Vivo X20 Plus UD: Here are the technical specifications

In this case, the new smartphone of company sees technical specifications interesting though not top of range since we are talking about a product with a 6.43-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display thanks to its 18: 9 format. In this case we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with an Adreno 512 GPU and a 4GB RAM. For internal storage users can use as many as 128GB of memory plus expandable with MicroSD up to 256GB.

On the multimedia level there is also presence of a dual 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 and OIS focal aperture to which a 5MP is added. On the other hand, a 12MP camera with a f / 2.0 focal aperture and a soft LED flash was placed on front. To all this then a 3,800 mAh battery is added, able to obtain, according to company, excellent performances, above all thanks also to presence of Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Synaptics CLEAR ID FS9500: here is the sensor ” below ” to the display

Clearly, main attraction of new Vivo X20 Plus UD is undoubtedly the sensor for reading fingerprints located below the Super AMOLED display. In this case, new chip was developed by Synaptics, and we had seen it some time ago already in action at CES in Las Vegas right on new Vivo of which the name and specifications were not yet known.

The sensor located below Clear ID FS9500 display will allow users to unlock the device within 0.6 seconds which is actually more or less triple the time taken by common fingerprint sensors.

In fact, the new technology allows to ” hide ” the sensor and to maximize the display surface in such a way for users to have even more space for viewing multimedia contents without having any bar at bottom of smartphone.

Price and availability of the Vivo X20 Plus UD

The new smartphone of company Vivo, first with a fingerprint sensor below display, was presented for the moment only for Chinese market, at a price of 3,598 yaun.

I wonder, if at this point other manufacturers, OnePlus in first place, will integrate this new fingerprint sensor in their smartphones of the future.
