About three months after the announcement of the new WD 10TB mechanical hard drives, this is a very interesting update from Western Digital, announcing the new WD MyBook Duo model.
Caution: It looks like a NAS but it is not, it misses all the part of networking like ethernet and Wi-Fi ports, which is why we have called it generically an external hard drive. Connectivity, in short, takes place directly via USB in various formats, as the WD MyBook Duo has USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type-C (the small and oval of the latest smartphones, to say).
The range is divided into 6 models, respectively 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, 12TB, 16TB and 20TB respectively. Prices range from $259 from the 4TB model to the $599 of the largest. It should be noted that the indicated capacity is achieved by the RAID 0 configuration of the two units inside (there are the well-liked WD Red optimized for RAID), so it is necessary to have it if you opt for a safer but less performing RAID 1 configuration.
- Massive capacity storage with auto and system backup
- RAID-0 ready out of the box
- USB 3.1 Gen 1-ready, USB 3.0 compatibility
