AMD presents the new Ryzen Pro 3000 and Athlon Pro 300 processors

AMD announces the new Ryzen Pro 3000 series processors for business users and professionals. Focus on improving performance and security for the full range of processors.

AMD announces the new generation of AMD Ryzen Pro and Athlon Pro processors for notebooks for professionals. The new CPU belonging to the 3000 series offer more computing power, better autonomy and advanced security features across the range.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000 Mobile: Security and management for companies

The new Ryzen Pro are in all respects identical to the non-Pro Ryzen Mobile models and see only the addition of specific features for the corporate world. Let’s recap the specifications:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U : 4 cores and 8 threads operating at 2.3 GHz (4 GHz in boost) with GPU Radeon Vega 10
  • AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U : 4 cores and 8 threads operating at 2.1 GHz (3.7 GHz in boost) with GPU Radeon Vega 8
  • AMD Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U : 4 cores and 4 threads operating at 2.1 GHz (3.5 GHz in boost) with GPU Radeon Vega 6
  • AMD Athlon Pro 300U : 2 cores and 4 threads operating at 2.4 GHz (3.3 GHz in boost) with GPU Radeon Vega 3

All processors are characterized by a TDP equal to 15 W. Compared to the previous generation, AMD states that the new Ryzen Pro offer up to 16% more performance in multi-threaded situations and 14% more performance in the processing of multimedia content.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

The gap with Intel processors, on the other hand, is more pronounced in the workloads that rely on the GPU thanks to the greater power expressed by the Vega GPUs: AMD data state that performance is 36% higher in the application of filters on Adobe Photoshop CC (comparing AMD Ryzen 7 3700U and Intel Core i7 8650U), 64% in SPECviewperf 3DS MAX and 258% in SPECviewperf Medical.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

The transition to the new production process and the refinement of the architecture allow to reduce consumption more than the first generation: this reduction would allow, according to the data released by the company, to obtain up to 12 hours of autonomy in 0thin and light laptops.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

AMD focuses on the fact that its Ryzen Pro and Athlon Pro solutions all offer the same security and management features, unlike their Intel counterparts that offer vPro technologies only in the top models (i7-8650U and i5-8350U).

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

Among the most notable security features we find: the complete memory encryption, which is transparent to the operating system and applications; the presence of a security co-processor that implements the TPM 2.0 specifications and features of Windows 10 such as Device Guard and Credential Guard. There is also a hardware-based root of trust to ensure the security of the boot process.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

AMD also aims at stability: the company offers 36 months of warranty, 24-month availability of parts and 18 months of image stability to allow the creation of a stable and durable hardware and software environment.

AMD Ryzen Pro 3000

HP and Lenovo will announce products with new processors over the next few weeks, as announced by AMD itself.
