Apple, charging problems with Smart Battery Cases: the replacement campaign starts

Apple has launched a replacement program for the Smart Battery Cases for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR that present problems in charging the device. Here are the details.

Apple has launched in recent days a replacement program for the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR. The company has recognized a problem with some models for which charging problems may occur, such as failure to charge or intermittent charging when using the proprietary battery case.

The Smart Battery Cases that present the problem were produced between January and October 2019, and the company wishes to clarify that there is no safety risk for users. All devices that will be considered defective within the problems reported by the company will be replaced completely free of charge at an Apple Store or all Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Only the Smart Battery Cases for the highlighted models are suitable for replacement, the most recent designed for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max will not be replaced for free. All Smart Battery Case owners can request the replacement of their unit; Apple will verify the presence of the defect for each cover before deciding whether to make the replacement free or not.

Some users have started to complain about the charging problems with the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR already from the first months of 2019, while in mid-2019, the products were no longer available on the Apple Store with expected delays also over a month. The problem may have been caused by the attempt to find a solution to the cases of defective covers found since the beginning of 2019.

Any defective Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way at the expense of the company. All information can be found here.
