At the beginning of January 2015 for the new Intel Ultrabook

The 2015 edition of the CES in Las Vegas the frame chosen for the debut of the new generation of Intel-based architecture Broadwell-U, 15-watt TDP proposals for the next series of ultra-thin laptops. The Consumer-ElectronicsShow, better known by the initial’s CES, is an event that has become customary at the beginning of each year. In the setting of Las Vegas the first week of January each year it becomes the seat of important new technological announcements.

The year 2015 is the one chosen by Intel for the presentation of the new Intel Core architecture-based family known by the code name of Broadwell-U.

The Chinese site VR-Zone reports show information from an Intel roadmap, pointing out how Intel plans to introduce as many as 17 different versions of U-family processor Broadwell sold under the brand Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Pentium and Celeron in the second technical features and of course price.

These processors are characterized by a TDP equal to 15 Watts, a value that is identical to that of the family of processors by Intel Haswell proposed for mobile systems thinner as Ultrabook. The architecture has two physical cores on all processors, with some models that support HyperThreading technology like what is happening right now with the Intel 15 Watt TDP on the market.

The video subsystem and integrated with GPU indicated the names of the Intel HD Graphics 6000, Intel HD Graphics 5500 and Intel HD Graphics depending on the CPU to which they are matched. Then there is also a fourth model, Intel Graphics Iris 6100, which will be the flagship proposal with regard to the integrated GPU in Intel’s family of Broadwell-U.

We do not know if Iris Graphics 6100 incorporates a greater number of execution units compared to other GPU but from the information available at the time, it is reported that the base clock frequency will be equal to 300 MHZ for all the video chip, with peak maximum Turbo frequency that will touch 1,100 MHz with just a few CPUs with Iris Graphics 6100 chip.

We remember how Intel has presented a few weeks ago, the first Core-M family processors, the proposed ultra-low power systems intended for use in tablet and 2-in-1 from the extremely low thickness built with 14-nanometer production technology and architecture-based note with the code name of Broadwell-Y. These models differ from those Broadwell U-mainly for the TDP which is contained within 4.5 Watt: lower consumption have been obtained primarily by acting on the clock frequency that is significantly less than that prescribed for the various versions of Broadwell CPU-U.
