Bendgate : A new iPhone 6 rages on bends too easily

Each iPhone must bear at least two ” difficulties ” before settling down. The first is the classic negative mood post-presentation, the discontented when they are born so the CPU is not pumped enough, the screen has a low resolution and insufficient RAM. The second occurs following the opening of sales, when after bringing home the new record, the iPhone is in the hands of millions of people.

With a vast basin of smartphone buyers is subjected to almost any use and are easily discovered defects, more or less important. Usually even the minor ones, perhaps due to a simple software bug, you create a flywheel media that emphasizes them more than necessary.

In at least one case the problem was real. I refer to the well-known ” antenna gate ” of the iPhone 4, whose cell phone signal could be blocked by wrapping your smartphone with your hands. Gave Apple the bumper, for a period of time, useful not to trigger the problem, but that was not the case normally using the terminal. Fact, the situation did not cause real headaches for owners of the iPhone 4.

Now under consideration, there are the new iPhone 6 and the problem emerged in the early days has already been given the name ” bendgate. ” Americans forums numerous people claim to have accidentally bent the iPhone 6 Plus, some of which simply holding it in the front pocket of his pants. Obviously, we cannot verify that it was actually the one to use, which has led to bend the smartphone, but if true it would be worrying. I am not surprised that much that a terminal 5.5″ with only 7mm thick you could bend under heavy pressure, I find it hard to imagine this could happen in the front pocket, while in the rear would be more plausible given that there is can inadvertently sit on.

Those of Unbox Therapy have wanted to make a small test, showing that actually do not need a lot of force to bend an iPhone 6 Plus. In this case, it was done on purpose, but the smartphone has sold quite easily by going to fold it in correspondence with the volume buttons, where the structure is apparently weaker (perhaps because excavated). It is obvious that nobody would do a thing about it. They were sponsored by a company to pay for itself from the damage, and the fact that the video is intended to go around the world, as indeed is happening, the sponsor will gain in visibility.

For comparison, they decided to do the same thing with a Galaxy Note 3, whose measures are virtually superimposed iPhone 6 Plus (with a thickness greater than 1. 2mm). The phablet Samsung has stood up well to attempt to bend it, even if the applied force was even greater (says the author of the video, and you can clearly see that the hands are shaking from the effort).

We want to avoid at this early stage to jump immediately to conclusions see the iPhone that folds behind a force apparently not too pronounced a certain effect. Especially considering that a similar terminal made of plastic has resisted better. We know that aluminum is quite malleable, so perhaps Apple have gone a bit too far in the surface / thickness creating a device too weak. Surely if they continue to speak in the coming days, and we will clarify the matter. Personally, I have chosen the 4.7″ which, apparently, seems to suffer much less from this problem since it has a smaller surface.
