Chuwi HeroBox, the versatile and inexpensive Mini PC

Chuwi is about to launch his Chuwi HeroBox. This is the updated version of GBox Pro, thanks to the adoption of the Intel Celeron N4100 processor based on Gemini Lake architecture, the 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM integrated, and the storage compartment with 180GB SSD-based. All inside a metal body that has different types of doors: it is aimed at those looking for a versatile computer, compact in size, suitable for work, and for viewing multimedia content.
Although Chuwi HeroBox allows you to play essential graphics, it is not a gaming machine. It has an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 GPU, which is capable of playing videos at 4K Ultra HD resolution encoded with 10-bit VP9. The SSD is instead provided by Intel and allows you to take full advantage of the CPU performance without creating bottlenecks (present, for example, with storage solutions based on mechanical disks).
In terms of connectivity, we have ports of (almost) each type: a USB Type-C, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, a MicroSD slot for external memory cards, an HDMI port, a VGA port, and other interfaces.
The pre-installed operating system is Windows 10, and there is supported for Linux distributions like Ubuntu. HeroBox is a PC with outstanding qualities in terms of multimedia: it can be on the rear frame of monitors and televisions thanks to the VESA support present.
The use of a low-energy processor and a solid-state system for storage make HeroBox an extremely efficient computer, with a declared energy consumption of less than 10W. Through the SATA port, moreover, the storage can be expanded up to a maximum of 2TB.
It costs roughly the same as an Intel NUC 6CAYH, Chuwi notes in the release notes, but the latter comes with an older processor and no RAM or storage units. Also, the latter is only compatible with the previous generation DDR3L RAM.
