From mid-2016 processors Broadwell-E, available in 4 versions

With the 2016 edition of Computex Taipei will present the new Intel processors for enthusiast desktop platforms, models Broadwell-E: for the proposed flagship will arrive in 10 core integrated.

The debut of the Intel family Broadwell-E, proposals for the enthusiast segment of the desktop PC market, is expected for the 2016 edition of Computex Taipei. Then they will pass just under six months before we see these processors on the market, combined with motherboards with Intel X99 chipset.

New information appeared online to indicate the availability of these CPU 4 distinct versions, with the top model characterized by the integration of as many as 10 cores. This would be the first CPU Intel Desktop to make available 10 cores. The CPU time value passed to the Xeon family intended for graphics workstations and servers. The following table shows what should be the main technical features of these processors.

Core i7 6950X Core i7 6900K Core i7 6850K Core i7 6800K
Core 10 8 6 6
Threads 20 16 12 12
Clock default 3 GHz 3.2 GHz 3.6 GHz 3.4 GHz
Clock boost 3.5 GHz 3.7 GHz 3.8 GHz 3.6 GHz
L3 cache 25 MB 20 MB 15 MB 15 MB
TDP 140W 140W 140W 140W
Price expected $ 999 $ 650 $ 550 $ 450

The use of architecture Broadwell-E will get a performance boost than Haswell-E currently on the market, but the biggest impact will be in terms of energy efficiency through the use of production technology to 14 nanometers. Also for this reason Intel has been able to incorporate a total of 10 cores in the model Core i7-6950X, keeping the clock frequency default value of 3 GHz with a TDP always equal to 140 Watt which the maximum.

All processors will be characterized by the frequency multiplier unlocked upwards, so as to allow a simple intervention in overclocking. Another feature of these CPUs, the memory controller quad channel type DDR4, compatible with clock frequencies official equal to 2,133 MHz or 2,400 MHz; it is conceivable that the manufacturers of motherboards become available settings for clock frequencies of system memory that will push you beyond these data, such as is the case with the Haswell-E platforms currently on the market.
