Garmin renews the bike computers with Edge 530 and 830
There are two new GPS bike computers with a 2.6″ display: Edge 530, featuring a button interface and Edge 830, which instead focuses on the touchscreen. At the base of entrmabi there is a more powerful CPU: combined with cartographic maps now allows to take advantage of features such as ClimbPro, which shows on the display the elevation development of the climb that is being faced at that moment and how much is missing to reach the summit.
The renewal of the wrist GPS watch range has been very interesting, especially looking at the features of the new Forerunner 945 sportwatch. In this spring, Garmin has not forgotten cyclists, too, and a few days ago had put interesting innovations on the plate even for those who love cycling. There are two new GPS bike computers with a 2.6″ display: Edge 530, featuring a button interface and Edge 830, which points to the touchscreen instead.
At the base of both, we find a more powerful CPU: combined with the cartographic maps, it now allows us to take advantage of functions such as ClimbPro, which shows on the display the altimetric development of the climb that is being faced at that moment and how much is missing to reach the summit.
Not only that, it also provides the overall picture of all those planned on the track, so that the cyclist can manage the effort and the physical condition in the best possible way. Furthermore, Garmin Cycle Map is preloaded on Edge 530 and Edge 830 and thanks to the Trendline Popularity Routing function, via Garmin Connect / Mobile for Edge 530 and directly from the instrument for Edge 830, it is able to provide the user with the most indicated itineraries practiced and safer to cover.
For mountain bike enthusiasts, the new dynamics of analysis typical of the off-road world are interesting, among which the GRIT and the FLOW stand out as well as the count of jumps, the time of flight and the length of the same.
The Trailforks map is preloaded in the internal memory with track indications to ride on single tracks or dirt roads. With the Forksight function as a pop-up will appear on the screen when you stop near junctions and deviations on the route you are taking, suggesting which path to take.
The two bike computers can also be transformed into anti-theft devices: the PIN-protected bike alarm function that alerts users to move their bike when they are away and with Find My Edge you can search for the ” lost ” Edge within the coverage range of the Bluetooth signal on the smartphone.
The new computers for Edge cycling allow you to monitor your fitness status during cycling: by analyzing the altitude and the temperature, they are able to provide information on their acclimatization status at a precise moment.
The tools provide a detailed and precise analysis of the areas where you worked in the previous workouts, so as to get the right directions to improve your preparation through the Training Load Balance widget, EPOC data and respiratory rate.
In addition to this data, they also provide power, cycling dynamics, VO2 max and recovery time detection when connected to the Vector® 3 power sensor or a compatible heart rate monitor. They can also be associated with the new Speed Sensor 2 and Cadence Sensor 2 wireless sensors that allow you to keep track of speed, distance and cadence.
Garmin Edge 530 and Gamin Edge 830 have a battery with a duration of up to 20 hours with active GPS. The new Garmin Edge 530 and Edge 830 will be available starting in May in different bundle options, for cycling and mountain biking, at a recommended retail price that starts at $299.99 up to $499.99.
