Google Home Mini: Smart speaker with low-cost AI

Google announced Google Home Mini at the presentation event on October 4th. It was he who opened the dances during the day.

Google Home Mini is a new product of the mountainside giant’s smart speaker family, and will complement the standard model already available in seven different countries around the world. The peculiar characteristic of the new variant is above all the price: only $ 49 within the US market where it will be launched together with the markets of Japan, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, France and Germany.

The new speaker offers a small form factor and compares directly with Amazon’s Echo Dot, naturally using Google Assistant in place of the competing artificial intelligence system called Alexa. Google Home Mini is not designed for music and Hi-Fi, but its main purpose is AI to bring Big G into all the rooms through several satellites all interconnected and able to recognize their position in the home.

As with this category of products the user can schedule appointments, listen to podcasts, send instructions to other products related to the domestic ecosystem as the various Chromecasts around the house. All with commands expressed in a natural way with the voice as if you were talking to a human, and not with a car. Aesthetically Google Home Mini is as we have already known in the various leaks leaked in recent weeks.

The exterior finish is in fabric with large weft and four LED, and there are three colors available at launch: coral, chalk and charcoal in English. Together with the launch of the product Google announced that it will bring the whole family Home in Japan, while in all markets will soon support multi-user and the Voice Match feature that automatically recognizes the voice of individual users, offering a personalized interaction to each of them.
