Google Nest Hub: ready to fight with Amazon and Alexa

Google officially presents the new Nest Hub that is the first true display of the Mountain View family ready to compete with Amazon’s rival Echo Show given the presence of a 7-inch display and clearly all of Google’s intelligence as a voice assistant.

Google Nest Hub: How it works and what it does

Let’s start by saying that the new Google Nest Hub is the multimedia center of your home designed to be the most possible home automation. With Nest Hub, it will be possible not only to find a faithful companion for entertainment but also and above all a central device capable of controlling all the related devices, if present, such as Home, Home Mini but also the devices always Nest for safety or thermostats.

The display will act as a host, and as it allows you to view any kind of information requested from Google Assistant, and the 7” thumbwheel will still guarantee a good surface for any type of instant display such as that of recipes or even a simple video on YouTube.

As said, Nest Hub by Google is meant to be a device to help users when they need, with a simple glance. With the integrated Google Assistant, you can simply use voice commands to get the best of Google directly on the Nest Hub display: Search, YouTube, Photos, Calendar, Maps and much more.

Aesthetically, it is very compact and not only because it adapts perfectly to any room in your home. Present, as mentioned, a 7” screen that rests on a pedestal covered in fabric that makes it seem almost suspended and perfect for any surface.

The right size to allow you to watch photos even from a distance but above all with its rounded corners, Nest Hub is never out of place.

In the upper part of the device is placed the environmental equalizer, a light sensor that allows to automatically adjust the screen according to the light present in the room. In this way also the photos shown on Nest Hub are integrated into the surrounding environment and there will be no disturbance from the screen light, which may be too bright. When it’s time to go to sleep, Nest Hub darkens the screen to allow you to rest better.

Google Nest Hub: A control center

Very convenient is the possibility with the new Google Nest Hub to be able to control hundreds of smart devices for the home, from light bulbs to smart sockets and much more. With Nest Hub, the whole family can manage the devices from a single control panel, without having to switch continuously from one app to another.

Simply scroll down the dashboard to get an overview of the house: from here you can dim the Philips Hue lights, adjust the temperature on the Nest thermostat, turn off the TV with integrated Chromecast, control smart cameras and find out who’s at the door with the Nest Hello video camera bell.

Nest Hub is not only this, but it is also a device to see photos: a real photo frame. It is easy to configure, it automatically updates the photos shown on the display and highlights the best shots thanks also to the intelligent search.

All commanded by voice. If this were not enough, here it will be possible to use the Nest Hub to listen to music, even seeing the video of the song. The user who purchases Nest Hub will have the possibility of having 3 months of YouTube Premium free. Clearly, it is also possible to integrate Spotify or other music streaming services to listen to music from Nest Hub.

You can then follow the recipes on the screen thanks to Google’s suggestions on the web but also start the day with a preset routine that will allow the user to have the news of the day, appointments on the agenda or even listen to the music to start the day.

Everything can be started with the simple voice and everything that was possible with Google Home, and Home Mini is replicated here with the plus of the display.
