Here is the new Profoto A1X flash for Canon, Nikon and Sony
Profoto A1X is the new flash for Canon, Sony and Nikon cameras that aims to be a versatile solution, with improved autonomy and able to ensure lighting that can be useful in shots.
Profoto A1X is the new flash that replaces the previous A1 and is compatible with Canon, Nikon and Sony. Compared to the previous model, some key features have been improved, but also the price has been revised (slightly) upwards.
The new Profoto A1X flash still has a circular head structure that has made the predecessor ” famous “. But now the new flash can reach 450 shots (100 more than in A1) obtained thanks to a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. According to the manufacturer, it takes 80 minutes for a full flash charge.
Between one shot and another, only 1″ can pass instead of 1.2″ : differences that are important in the studio but not only. The dimensions are 75 x 165 x 108 mm while the weight reaches 560 grams.
With the new Profoto A1X, you will have natural light to illuminate the scene. There is also a magnetic front support that allows you to add some accessories to model the light projection.
To improve usability, the user interface that is now simpler, clearer and more immediate has been revised. Then there is the AirTTL remote control to manage both a flash and a series of Profoto flashes to find the best combination of lighting (up to 20 wireless channels against the 8 of the 2017 model). Profoto A1X also has a microUSB connector for updating the firmware.
For both Canon EOS R and Nikon Z there is no direct AF assist integrated into the Profoto A1X and the one integrated in the camera will be used. No problem for Sony solutions. As written initially, the price has increased compared to A1 and for the new Profoto A1X it will take $ 1095 (US market).
