HP Chromebook x2 announced as the first detachable with Chrome OS

According to HP, the new Chromebook x2 is the first ” detachable ” device with detachable keyboard, with the Google operating system.

HP today announced what defines the first detachable with Chrome OS. HP Chromebook x2 then allows the user a dual mode of use: the first, the traditional one for the Big G operating system, from traditional notebook; the second from tablet. It is in other words a real tablet, which can be combined with a keyboard and a capacitive pen that are included in the original equipment.

When the keyboard is connected to the tablet module, Chromebook x2 becomes a full-fledged laptop. The hinge is included in the keyboard, and is sufficiently robust to keep the tablet standing without the aid of a back stand. The 48Wh battery is inserted inside the tablet module at the time of writing we do not know how heavy the device is in its entirety.

The computer obviously has full access to the Google Play Store, with the ability to install games and applications developed for Android. The speakers installed in the body are designed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, with the promise of obtaining a satisfying quality audio component without connecting external earphones. Turning to the technical specifications, Chromebook x2 is based on the Core m3-7Y30 processor.

This is matched by 4 to 8 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, while the display is a 12.3-inch IPS with a resolution of 2,400×1,600 pixels. There is obviously no pen support, which is included in the price and allows you to use the device as if it were a big notebook to take notes or to draw designs. The new Chromebook x2 will be available starting from June with a base price of $599.
