iPadOS is now available! Lots of news and how to install it

The new OS of the Cupertino company designed specifically for its iPads is available for everyone to download! Here’s what’s new and how you can install it.

Apple officially presented a new operating system designed specifically for its iPads: iPadOS, a derivative of the known and previous iOS that improves the experience for the Cupertino company’s tablet.

Initially planned for September 30th, the release was then brought forward to September 24th and brings changes to a system that seemed not to express its maximum potential on devices other than iPhone.

iPadOS: What’s new?

Multitasking is the first novelty for the new operating system that makes it easier to use content from the same application and beyond; iPadOS brings a redesigned Home that shows more applications on the same screen and the issue of Widgets that can be immediately displayed on the main screen will be more manageable.

The new operating system for iPad also allows the user to work on two or more files within the same application, offering a better work structure for those who need to manage several documents simultaneously.

The responsiveness of the Apple Pencil will improve and not a little, going from 20 ms to a good 9 ms, increasingly simulating the experience of real pencils on paper. The color palette has also been revised: new tools will be added such as a ruler. New three-finger gestures will offer much faster text editing, new gestures have been introduced to copy, paste and cut the content.

iPadOS natively supports flash drives, SD cards or other storage devices and this matches the review of the File application, now more streamlined and easier to manage documents, images and more. File also adds a new high resolution preview mode allowing you to edit everything much faster.

Now Safari will be ” desktop class “, offering all the potential that now is limited by iOS: a touch optimization, new download manager, keyboard shortcuts and better tab management.

Obviously, the new Dark Mode could not be missing, better known as Dark Mode which will offer less eyestrain and will modify all the apps compatible with this mode. iPadOS also improves the overall performance of iPad: faster FaceID, app size reduced by 50% while updates are reduced by 60%.

iPadOS: how to update?

I have not been able to update the device without iCloud or directly through iTunes. The backup will allow you to recover your data in case of problems during the update.

iPadOS can be updated via OTA, which is through the settings of our iPad, or through iTunes and then connecting our device to the computer. In the first case, you will need to go to your iPad to update:

iPadOS: How to update?

As always, there are two ways to update iPad with the new operating system, but it is always recommended to precede these procedures with a general backup of the device via iCloud or directly through iTunes. The Backup will allow you to recover your data in case of problems during the update.

iPadOS can be updated via OTA, that is through the settings of our iPad, or through iTunes and then connecting our device to the computer. In the first case, you will need to go to your iPad to update:

Settings –> General –> Software Update.

The system will search for the new available version of the new OS and if an update is available, the user can manually start the update. Following the download, there will be a reboot of the device and everything will be completed.

In case of updating via iTunes, your device must be connected via cable to the computer, once the device is recognized simply go to Summary and then Check Updates. iTunes will ask permission to proceed with the iPadOS update so as to update your iPad; also in this case the whole will be completed through a reboot.
