Lenovo announces ThinkPad P52s portable workstations
Lenovo has announced the next generation of its ThinkPad portable workstations. The new ThinkPad P52s model integrates eighth-generation Intel processors and NVIDIA Quadro P500 graphics cards.
Lenovo announced the next generation of ThinkPad P52s family workstations. Inside the classic ThinkPad body, almost unchanged, there are updated components compared to the previous generation.
ThinkPad P52s laptop have 15.6-inch screen and are positioned in the traditional segment of portable workstations; resolutions available include Full-HD (both traditional and touch-sensitive) and 4K.
Lenovo has chosen to use eighth-generation Intel processors ranging from the Core i5-8250U to the Core i7-8650U. The GPU chosen is an NVIDIA Quadro P500. On the memory front, the ThinkPad P52s support up to 32 GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM distributed over two slots.
Archiving takes place on a traditional 5400 rpm disk with capacity up to 2 TB, or on an SSD up to 1 TB on NVMe. It seems that both options can be selected, having a small SSD flanked to a traditional disk with a larger capacity.
On the front of connectivity, Lenovo has inserted a considerable amount of ports: there are two USB 3.0 (one of which can supply power even when the PC is off), a USB Type-C port, an SD player, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet, a jack that combines headphones and a microphone and an optional smart card reader. There is an Intel 8265 2T/2R chip that integrates both WiFi (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.1, while a 4G LTE modem can be installed to connect on the move.
Given the company scope of reference, the ThinkPad P52s also integrates a fingerprint reader. The keyboard has a numeric keypad and is backlit. The battery goes from 3 cells with 24 Wh up to 6 cells of 72 Wh, and the power supply delivers 65 W.
