Lenovo introduces the new ThinkStation P920 and P720, up to 2TB of RAM and dual Xeon processor

Lenovo has introduced two new workstations: called ThinkStation P920 and Thinkstation P720, they have a very important hardware equipment that includes double Xeon processors and up to 2TB of RAM memory.

Lenovo introduced the two new ThinkStation P720 and ThinkStation P920 workstations, designed for use with both Windows 10 Pro for Workstations and Red Hat Linux and equipped with high-end hardware specifications, starting with the availability of two sockets with Intel XeonPlatinum processors, Gold, Silver or Bronze.

The higher-end model, the ThinkStation P920, can be equipped with up to 2 TB of DDR4 RAM operating at 2.666 MHz, distributed over 16 slots that support both RDIMM and LRDIMM banks; up to three NVIDIA Quadro GP100 or P6000 video cards; space for 12 discs, with two M.2 slots, six 3.5-inch slots and ten 2.5-inch slots. You can configure them in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10.

The motherboard uses an Intel C621 chipset, has four USB 3.1 ports on the front and a further four on the rear panel, along with two USB 2.0 ports, one serial port, one parallel, one PS2, one Ethernet, one eSATA, one Firewire and connectors jack for audio devices. An optical reader and a memory card reader also find space. To power the assembly is a power supply of 1,400 W.

ThinkStation P920The ThinkStation P720, on the other hand, has smaller dimensions and this leads to a reduction in its capacity: inside the case, they find the same processors of the higher-end model, but the RAM is limited to 384 GB on 12 DIMM slots ( DDR4 operating at 2.666 MHz). Identical expansion capabilities with disks and ports, while installable video cards fall to two. Power is supplied by a unit capable of delivering 690 W or 900 W, depending on the chosen configuration.
