Nano Memory as a standard on Android: Huawei is working on it

Huawei’s new smartphones are equipped with a Nano Memory, Huawei wants to make these storage memories a standard.

During the event in Huawei held in London, the executive director Yu presented a new type of storage memory present on the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei Mate 20, which estimates to become the new standard: the Nano Memory.

This new storage card is smaller than the classic microSD, to give an idea is the same size as a nano-SIM and for now can only be used in Huawei’s new devices.

The company owns the Nano Memory patent and hopes to produce more in the future to give the possibility to adopt this standard on any device. Yu said that Huawei does not currently have a license fee for the technology, but it does not rule out that it could be included in the future.

Huawei Mate 20 ProAccording to Huawei, negotiations have already been started with other companies for the adoption of the Nano Memory, but no further information has been released. However, it should not be too difficult for Huawei to persuade memory card manufacturers to release Nano Memory products.

This new technology provides a speed of 90MB/s and a capacity of 128 and 256 GB. To support the adoption of the Nano Memory, Huawei provides adapters to make the card compatible with microSD or SD slot, hoping that this will help to increase the adoption of the new standard.
