Nikon D610 – New Name But Same Camera

As expected the Nikon D610 has arrived, the same characteristics to the body that replaces but a new plug. No GPS or Wi-Fi to me as ” risky ” but slightly faster continuous shooting (6 vs. 5.5 fps) and silent shutter (up to 3fps).

Features aside, what makes ” news ” of this announcement is the replacement of a model to another in a short time away, without there has been an admission of the problem (and then fix), still problems for some customers who are unable to have a working camera even after the ” repair “.

Staying ” shiny ” and reasoning, Nikon does not have a priori wrong maneuver but managed it too much in the shadows. An admission of the problem, maybe in a timely manner, together with the announcement of the Nikon D610 and Nikon D600 of a repair program would be enough to appease the wrath of the strongest, leaving only a little ‘nuisance without losing face.

I do not agree with this solution. I find it hard even to understand the mechanism of economic and corporate communication that is essential. The only guess that I feel is the possibility to do that Nikon has made an ” estimate ” of the costs involved in this policy and with that of repairs, considering it more convenient for the first.

Probably not well estimated the loss in brand image, or we who do too many problems while 80% of customers do not follow these events and just be happy to find a Nikon D610 at $100 less than the price of Nikon D600 and the, great, full frame used for even less.
