Sharp Aquos Crystal – The smartphone without a frame arriving in Japan

Sharp Aquos Crystal presented 5-inch Android smartphone as a large 4.5-inch: these are possible thanks to the absence of the frame around the display, reduced to a minimum.

Sharp Aquos has announced the arrival of Crystal, a new smartphone whose peculiarity is the absence of the frame around the display. With a 5-inch display with 720p, thanks to this particular turn out to be as big as a current 4.5-inch smartphone, but obviously with a larger display.

Sharp’s goal with its new Aquos Crystal is clear: to offer a smartphone from the large display, but the compact size. Within a device from 131 x 67 mm, similar in size to those of G Moto, the Japanese manufacturer offers a smartphone with 5-inch display, thanks to the elimination – as far as possible – the frames. These are substantially absent along the sides and the top, while evident at the bottom.

With regard to technical characteristics, measuring 131 x 67 x 10 mm. and weighs 140 grams, features Android 4.4.2 KitKat and supports 4G LTE networks. The embedded processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 1.2 GHz SoC 400, coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory expandable up to 128 GB, 8 MP rear camera, 1.2 MP front and battery from 2,040 mAh.

Among the notable features regarding the audio industry, the new phone supports the Clari-Fi technology that essentially restores information lost during the compression of a file.

Unfortunately, the sale is limited to Japan with Softbank and subsequently with the operator Sprint in the USA and will be available from 29 August in black, white, pink and blue: in any case is interesting because, for the moment, it is the first device practically frameless side on the screen.

Then, by the same operators, will be launched the largest and most powerful version of Sharp Aquos Crystal X 5.5-inch screen and more specific hardware thrusts. For the time being, for the two smartphones without frame Sharp has not been announced the launch in other countries, but it is not impossible that this could happen in the coming months.

We do not know how it can be the experience of using such a device, since the lack of frames could result in potential accidental touches. Sharp Aquos Crystal will be announced within a Sprint event for August 19 while the next day will be launched the pre-order, which will end on August 29 with the release of the smartphone on American soil.
