Sono Motors, here is the electric car with solar energy: with also PowerBank function

It looks like a small car 4.11 meters long and equipped with five royal seats, will be available exclusively in black and is proposed as a model really out of the chorus: offers the main systems to which we are all nowadays used to have on a car, combined with the latest technologies related to the world of electric traction and a cost accessible.

Sono Motors, is the name of the German start-up engaged in an interesting project for a vehicle with electric drive but also with other special features: the car in question calls Sion, the first electric car with a dual charging circuit as standard, through the classic charging socket or even thanks to solar energy.

It looks like a small car 4.11 meters long and equipped with five royal seats, will be available exclusively in black and is proposed as a model really out of the chorus: offers the main systems to which we are all nowadays used to have on a car, combined with the latest technologies related to the world of electric traction and with a cost accessible.

The first detail, which does not go unnoticed, is certainly the body equipped with high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, composed of 330 cells capable of generating a total of 1,204 W of peak, contributing on average to an extra 30 km/day.

Turning to what is present under the shock, we find an 80 kW engine combined with a battery pack that will have a size between 35 and 45 kWh, so as to ensure a range of about 250 km; batteries that can be recharged at any time both through the usual power outlet and the energy generated by the system of photovoltaic modules indicated above.

Thanks to this dual-source recharge solution, Sion can exploit a technology called ” bidirectional refill “, turning the car into a huge Powerbank: through the charging socket, energy can be transferred to any electric utility with a maximum power of 2.7 kW using a traditional socket and up to 7.6 kW using a type 2 sockets.

The company specifies that Sion will have all the accessories that we are now accustomed to:

  • Infotainment system
  • Air conditioning : standard, not only for cooling the air in summer, but also for filtering the air humidity when it is cold, with an original ” filter ” integrated into the dashboard based on a particular type of moss able to retain up to 20% of fine particles through electrostatic attraction.
  • Safety : standard, ABS, anti-theft, airbag for driver and passenger and ESC.
  • Towbar : optional, batteries including Sion should weigh around 1.4-1.6 tons, this, together with the characteristics of the engine and the gearbox with single gear, provide what is necessary to tow trucks up to 750 kg of capacity.

In short, a car that deviates from the luxury segment that we are often used to talking about four-wheeled electric drive, proposing itself as a viable solution for everyday life.

The commercialization of the final version of Sion will start in 2019, by now not too far away, the company has announced that it has already exceeded 7,500 pre-orders, a milestone achieved also thanks to an all-inclusive cost of €16,000, with a separate fee for the battery pack amounting to €4,000, probably also obtainable with rental services.
