Ubuntu 19.04 ” Disco Dingo ” will be the name of the next version of Ubuntu

Ubuntu 19.04 will be called ” Disco Dingo ” : this is what emerges from the bug tracking system Launchpad, which mentions the name in advance of the official announcement.

Ubuntu continues its evolution: a few days after the launch of Ubuntu 18.10 ” Cosmic Cuttlefish “, Canonical has already decided the name of the next version of Ubuntu. At the time of launch next April, Ubuntu 19.04 will be called ” Disco Dingo “.

The name has not yet been made official with the usual article by Mark Shuttleworth on the company blog, but there is already a new branch of development on Launchpad, the bug tracking platform of Canonical.

Ubuntu 19.04 will be the successor to Ubuntu 18.10 and will be the new non-LTS version of the operating system, and will be equipped with updated software to the latest stable version available – contrary to the LTS version, which only receives security updates. In this sense, it is reasonable to expect that GNOME 3.32 will be used as a basis for the desktop environment, on which the Canonical modifications will be grafted.

There are currently no further details on what the most important changes will be: this will require further information from the company, probably coinciding with the announcement of Shuttleworth.
