WhatsApp, the call on hold arrives on Android: Here’s what it is and how it works

The call on hold has just been introduced on the final WhatsApp client, and it is also available for Android users. This is a very useful feature, but it could be implemented better.

The famous messaging client has just updated on Android introducing a new feature related to the call function: the call waiting on WhatsApp allows you to receive a notification when someone is calling us while we are already engaged in a conversation with another user. The feature is already active on the final version of the client, distributed these days on Android, but has a problem.

The call waiting on WhatsApp for Android arrives

When the call waiting is received it is not possible to pause for the conversation already active to temporarily switch in the other and then return to the first.

Instead, the user must decide: either to interrupt the ongoing conversation and switch to the incoming one, or to ignore the incoming call and manage it later. In short, although certainly useful, the new feature needs some small finishing work.

Previously, when someone tried to call a user engaged in a conversation, he heard the phone ringing practically empty. This is because the recipient of the call would not hear anything, nor receive any warning, except for the ” Missed call ” message only after the call was terminated.

With the news, you will hear an audible warning during the ongoing conversation, and you can decide whether to continue the latter or if instead switch to that of the new caller.

The feature is explained in the release notes of the latest version of WhatsApp for Android: ” Call waiting now supported to decide whether to accept an incoming WhatsApp call during another call “. How to receive the function? Just update the app through the Google Play Store, installing version 2.19.352. The call on hold is also available on the beta versions 2.19.357 and 2.19.358 of the app.

Call waiting: is there on iOS?

The function has already been available on iPhones since November, and was introduced by client version 2.19.120 and later, and can be installed in this case via the App Store.
