Xiaomi: the Mi Moji arrived in the app. See how they work and how to install them

Apple introduced them for the first time in their iPhone X thanks to TrueDepth, and now many producers are trying to ” imitate ” it. Here are the new Mi Moji from Xiaomi. All the details.

Among the news arrived with the iPhone X last year, there is not only the OLED display but also, and above all, an advanced imaging system called True Depth Camera capable of recognizing the owner of the phone, applying graphic changes to the self-portraits but also to track facial movements to reproduce them in augmented reality applications.

Thanks to the True Depth Camera it was possible to make available to all users the Animoji iPhone X that is animated emoticons able to accurately replicate the facial movements masked with faces of animals or other.

Many companies that have tried in recent months to replicate the Animoji and not the last Xiaomi, which seems to have found the right path for its Mi Moji, which work practically in a way similar to those of Apple and that will be available officially, hopefully, soon. In the meantime, here you can try them by installing an APK published on the web of the first version of Mi Moji, which works both on MIUI 10 and on the official MIUI 9.6.

Mi Moji: How the animated emoticons of Xiaomi work

Xiaomi has decided to reply to Animoji with an application similar to the one seen on Apple’s iPhone X. In this case once installed the application, which we remember has not yet been officially released by the Chinese company, will see an interface with 12 different avatars that can be used in recordings. Videos that can be up to 10 seconds long and then shared on social media.

As said, 12 avatars and users will be able to impersonate the Xiaomi mascot with his now-famous hat with ear-muffs, then a pig, a fox, a panda, a monkey but also a dragon, a fish, a giraffe or even a robot, a squirrel and a little goat.

The animations can be recorded up to a maximum of 10 seconds and can be modified later with a male or female voice, in addition to the original character, and then saved in the Gallery or shared on social networks even if at the moment only with four Chinese platforms.

Xiaomi Mi Moji: When will it be released?

Unfortunately, we do not know when Xiaomi will officially and publicly release its new Mi Moji app. At the moment it seems that the same does not work on all the smartphone of the company even if it is implemented by some with both MIUI 10 and MIUI 9.6.

Moreover, it is not clear if its operation is with any smartphone or just with some. In this case, we have installed it on a Xiaomi Mi 8 with Global MIUI 9.6, and the application works well even if perhaps with some lag or delay every now and then.

If you own a Xiaomi smartphone and you want to try the new Mi Moji app from Xiaomi you can download the APK directly to this address remembering that Hardware Upgrade will not take any responsibility in case of a smartphone malfunctions.
