The new Sony NEX-6 is called A6000

Following the recent renewal of the NEX line, which has decreed the end of this acronym in favor of unification under the Alpha brand, we expected a new camera to take the place of the flagship NEX-6 and NEX-7. The new model arrived today, and it is called A6000, available in colors black and titanium.

The look & feel is that of previous models and technical characteristics of a sum of the best of what both could offer. We have a 24.3 MP Exmor CMOS processor with sensitivity from 100 to 25,600 ISO and the X Bionz processor capable of handling a shooting speed of 11 fps. This speed is aided by the new Fast Hybrid AF system on which point Sony lot, calling it the fastest among mirrorless interchangeable lens.

Focuses in just 0.06 seconds enabling us to achieve continuous shooting with a perfect tracking on the subject. To obtain this result, it is either used for the focus contrast of 25 areas that for phase detection of well 179 points covering 92% of the frame (in the NEX-6 coverage was reduced to 50%).

The Sony A6000 nod to vintage with the titanium version but its appearance is very contemporary. It has a nice handle and rich controls fully customizable. On the back, we have a tilting screen 3 ” with 921k points and the Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder, an OLED screen 1.44 million dots that promises to be particularly large and fast refresh in addition to crisp and bright.

In terms of video, as always, we have full manual control during recording, the zebra function that adds to the focus peaking and even uncompressed HDMI video output. The camera has a size similar to the NEX-7 but for some features, such as the viewfinder, it looks more like a replacement for the NEX-6, and as can be seen from the price of about $790.
