ASUS ROG Phone 2: Here’s all the news of the new gaming smartphone

ASUS ROG Phone 2 is a candidate as the best gaming phone on the market, thanks to its 120Hz OLED display and exclusive technical features dedicated to maximum performance.

The first ASUS ROG Phone was one of the most interesting gaming smartphones of its generation. In these hours, he announced the new model in China, ASUS ROG Phone II, with the intention of pushing the benchmark of the category even further.

ASUS ROG Phone II uses a 6.59″ OLED display with Full HD resolution (exactly 2,340×1,080 pixels). It uses a ratio of 19.5:9, no notch and the frames are still present, even if in small size. For the camera like those of Zenfone 6, nor the display is really full-screen, but the peculiarities are not lacking: the integrated panel has 120Hz refresh-rate (configurable even at 60 or 90Hz), supports HDR- 10 and has a latency of 1ms. The sampling rate of the touchscreen is also 240Hz, offering latency at the touch of only 49ms.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus platform with a maximum 2.95GHz octa-core processor and a slightly enhanced Adreno 640 GPU compared to the traditional variant. It is sold with a maximum of 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage based on UFS 3.0 technology (the same that we saw on OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro), while the fingerprint sensor is below the display.

Among the connectivity solutions, there is no lack of 3.5mm audio jacks, dual USB Type-C ports for interfacing with external accessories, and in the equipment, there is also the module with integrated fan.

Among the accessories shown at the launch by the company are ROG Kunai, a Bluetooth gamepad with two removable modules that can be applied to the smartphone (only if provided with a dedicated case), and TwinView Dock II, an external display with 120Hz refresh rate that can be used to show full-screen panels with compatible video games.

The case integrates a 5,000mAh battery, which is added to the well 6000mAh unit which is present in the smartphone and which promises 7 hours of gaming with PUBG titles.

The smartphone also makes use of a 48MP rear camera, with the same sensor probably the one we find on Zenfone 6, and a system with four Wi-Fi antennas that automatically orientate and allow you to connect simultaneously to two networks in so as to optimize the ping with video games. Do not miss the ROG logo on the back of the smartphone, backlit with RGB LEDs, while the weight of the device pushes the needle of the scale up to 240 grams.

ASUS ROG Phone II is a very important smartphone on the size front, a compromise necessary to cram all the features it is equipped with. Among these are the Air Triggers, the second generation of capacitive triggers that can be used with games to impart certain actions.

The new technology also allows you to keep your fingers resting, and increase the pressure to give the command. The smartphone uses Android 9 Pie for the first time and further details on distribution in China will be unveiled in the next few hours together with partner Tencent.
