Dell, here is the new XPS 13, with reduced frames on four sides and new CPU

Among the announcements of the American manufacturer, the most important is certainly that of the XPS laptop in the 13-inch variant. Here is all the news of the updated version.

On the occasion of the CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Dell has removed the veils from the new 13 ” model of the XPS line, the most acclaimed of the American manufacturer in the notebook PC among the high-end models.

The new model uses an alloy body made of aluminum, fiberglass, or carbon of aerospace inspiration—all to offer a light system, small in size, and at the same time durable. The new model makes use of a new InfinityEdge design, which provides for the reduction of the frames on four sides and no more three.

The display thus uses an aspect ratio of 16:10 with a declared screen-frame ratio of 91.5%. Lightweight and slim, the new Dell XPS 13 uses 10th-nm-printed Intel Core processors, combined with an advanced thermal design and Intel Dynamic Tuning technology that offers ” adaptive ” performance based on the load required.

The keyboard also gains in size, as does the touchpad, which is larger than the previous 13-inch model. The company has also introduced a higher-quality display than in the past, with HDR and Eyesafe certifications through which colder shades are reduced to avoid eye strain even after long work sessions.

According to what the company said, the new Dell XPS 13 can reach up to a maximum of 19 hours of operating autonomy at 1,920×1,200 pixels resolution and adopts various proprietary technologies: among this Dell Mobile Connect, which offers the possibility to connect – totally via wireless – smartphone and PC using various functions.

Dell Cinema, on the other hand, allows you to obtain an advanced entertainment experience by offering an interface where you can easily find films and TV series present on different online services, complete with user reviews and complete descriptions.

There will be two models available, both with a maximum luminance of 500nit and Dolby Vision support: one supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR400 certification, the other with 1920×1200 pixel resolution and a declared contrast ratio of 1800:1. The new Dell XPS 13 will also have a Developer Edition, which will use the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS operating system with Linux kernel. This version was born within Project Sputnik, a project born about 7 years ago with the aim of creating solutions designed for the developer community.
