Facebook updates the News Feed management algorithm

Facebook has announced a new change in the News Feed management algorithm on the social network. According to two reports, there are substantial changes that will involve users.

Facebook updates continue to the algorithm that manages the social network’s News Feed. Thanks also to user information provided through some surveys, now there will be at least two important news regarding posts and people that will be shown more often.

In an official post, some Facebook executives explained what the News Feed changes will consist of. The first concerns friends who would like to hear more often while the second one links that should be more useful (or valid than the user’s time).

What does it mean in reality? According to reports, some recurring patterns (reinforced by surveys) have emerged from a study linked to the typical use of Facebook by users. For example: users want to see posts from friends that are more reactions / reactions to posts, which are more often tagged in photos, which are more often answered by posts or that are often found in the same areas.

The company specifies that this change to the News Feed algorithm will not mean that you will see ” only those posts ” but that the posts with the features described above in the Facebook Feed will be shown.

The second change directly concerns the links and posts that contain them. Still based on user surveys, Facebook will show posts and links that should be more interesting to the user. The type of post will be analyzed, who shared it and how many people reached, thus determining if it is interesting for a user.

As for the Pages, the new algorithm should not directly affect page views. However, posts with links that are shared directly by people will be shown more often, especially those that are considered ” more interesting ” for a user.

Still according to what is written by Facebook, this change will serve not so much to spend more time on the social network to a person, but rather to increase the quality of time spent on it.
