Fujifilm launches two new lenses for GFX and X
Fujifilm has launched two objectives for the X Series and the GFX Series: these are the GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR and XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR models, which focus on compactness but with interesting features.
Today Fujifilm has decided to expand its offer with regard to optics. Two new objectives have been presented, and we find the GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR model and the XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR model dedicated to GFX and X cameras.
Fujifilm GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR
The first model is the GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR and represents the tenth optics launched for the medium-format GFX system. It is a very compact (84 x 48 mm) and lightweight solution with a 50 mm focal length and an aperture of f/3.5 so as to weigh only 335 grams, thus not weighing on the overall weight of the camera (1.11 kg combined together with the GFX 50R).
This Fujifilm lens is designed for travel photography and street photography thanks to the equivalent 40 mm and good aperture. Being dedicated to professional cameras inside there are gaskets able to withstand water and dust and temperatures up to -10°C.
The optical design includes 9 elements divided into 6 groups and an aspherical lens is also present. This allows for low distortion, faithful colors and excellent resolution. The availability of the new Fujifilm GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR lens is given for September 2019 at a price of $999.

Fujifilm XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR
The second lens presented today is the new Fujifilm XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR, which is instead designed for X systems. Its peculiarity lies in the constant aperture of f/4 for the entire focal length range of 16 at 80 mm.
The other features speak of a minimum focusing distance of 35 cm while the weight settles on 440 grams so that it is still manageable. Combined with a system with X-T3 the total weight reaches 974 grams, thus managing to remain under the kilogram.
This lens is designed for all-purpose photography and travel and being of the XF series is made with particular care. For example: the external part is made of metal, increasing overall resistance and also resisting to dust and atmospheric agents, as well as temperatures down to -10°C.
The Fujifilm XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR optical design features 16 elements in 12 groups with four aspherical lenses (one ED) to reduce curvature and aberrations in captured images. All with a total size of 88.9 mm.
The focusing system has a stepper motor that allows it to be fast, precise and silent while the optical stabilization is able to guarantee an intervention on 6 stops. The availability of this perspective is scheduled for September 2019 at a price of $799.
