Google unveils new Chromebook Pixel, with Chrome OS and two USB Type-C

The Mountain View giant has announced the new generation of Chromebook Pixel in two versions: a traditional and a ” Ludicrous Speed “. Although Chromebooks have been historically aimed mainly at the lower end of the market, two years ago, Google launched its first Pixel, laptop with components from top of the line facing the developer, as well as the most demanding user. Wednesday Big G has unveiled a new generation of Chromebook Pixel, with technical journals and the introduction of two USB Type-C connector reversible.

There are two available options: a traditional model with an Intel Core i5 2.2 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB SSD and a variant ” Ludicrous Speed ” (LS) whose processor is a Core i7 2.4 GHz supported by well 16 GB of RAM. On an aesthetic level, there are no major differences with the model of the previous generation: the display (IPS) is again from 12.85 ” with 2,560 x 1,700 pixels resolution matrix touchscreen and with aspect-ratio of 3: 2.

As we wrote recently above, are introduced two USB Type-C symmetric able to transfer data at speeds up to 5 Gbps, but also to accommodate 4K display with an HDMI or DisplayPort sold separately. The port is also used to charge the laptops, managing to manage up a maximum of 60W. In addition to the two USB Type-C reversible, the new Chromebook Pixel integrates two additional USB 3.0 ports and a reader for SD memory cards.

Of course, there support technologies for wireless connectivity to popular and advanced, like Wi-Fi dual-band 802.11ac is 2.4 to 5 GHz and Bluetooth 4.0. Chromebook Pixel is already available for sale in the United States through the new official online store. At the time of writing, Google did not specify what are the plans for release in other countries, and it is scheduled to arrive in Europe.
