Intel Atom x3, x5 and x7, new names for clarity

New branding strategy for Intel, linked to the Atom processors for mobile platforms. Clear resonance with the core lines, although some doubt remains. Intel always differs from their own lines of processors and platforms based on the scope of use to which they are intended. These days leaked news about the Atom platform, which will be subject to a nomenclature that strongly resembles the one already used for the Core family processors.

Intel’s strategy is clear, that put consumers in a position to understand the code already looking at what level of performance expected, and choose accordingly. Not by chance the next Atom processors will be sold in three families, Atom x3, Atom x5 and Atom x7, with performance increasing as is the number of reference. As for the Core, in short: Atom x7 will be more powerful than the Atom x5, and Atom x3, as Core i7 is more than Core i5 and Core i3.

Keep in mind, also, that the families of Atom processors are designed for the mobile world, smartphones and tablets, which have been given great importance to energy consumption, while maintaining firm the importance of ensuring adequate benefits to the target.

A step towards clarity, therefore, even if a hyper fragmentation can be a double-edged sword. In other words: if for fans, all is clear, it is not excluded that the user follows little or nothing about the technology sector may be even more lost than before. Source: TechPowerUp.
