Radeon RX 5500M and Radeon RX 5300M: new GPU for incoming gaming notebooks

AMD prepares the debut of new video products based on Navi architecture; not only desktops but also notebooks, with the two mid-range chips Radeon RX 5500M and Radeon RX 5300M ready for the Christmas season notebooks.

We expect the upcoming debut of new mid-range video cards from AMD, with models belonging to the Navi family that will position themselves as alternatives to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1600 solutions currently on the market.

The new features of AMD from the GPU side will not be limited to the desktop sector alone, but will be of interest to notebook systems. Some information on two new AMD Radeon RX GPU specifically designed for use in portable systems appeared online at the wccftech website.

The first GPU has the name of Radeon RX 5500M and for this are also available detailed technical specifications. The source indicates a GPU with 1,408 streams processed with a clock rate of 1,645 MHz, combined with GDDR6 14Gbps memory with 128-bit wide bus.

These specifications position the Radeon RX 5500M GPU as a direct competitor of the GeForce GTX 1650 card, a model widely used in the most-recent notebooks dedicated to gaming enthusiasts but with a budget not particularly high.

Specific details for the Radeon RX 5300M board are missing, according to the model that AMD should offer to notebook manufacturers. For both GPU performance indications are available with the 3DMark 11 benchmark: for the Radeon RX 5500M, the data obtained is approximately 13,000 points, more than about 10,000 points of a GeForce GTX 1650 based GPU system.

For the Radeon RX 5300M card ,the indicated value is equal to approximately 11,000 points, as a comparison the GeForce GTX 1660Ti Max-Q card obtains a value of 12,000 points and in non-Max-Q declination rises to around 14,000 points.

It is conceivable, in light of the rumors that have emerged in recent weeks, that these GPU could be presented during the month of October so as to be used in new notebooks that will debut in time for the Christmas sales season.
