Unveiled Sony RX100 II, New sensor, Articulated display and Wi-Fi

The Sony RX100 is the most interesting compact I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. In a very slender body and solid sensor combines a generous size, Zeiss bright and excellent quality, manual controls and advanced features. I could not but commend the fantastic qualities but apparently Sony wanted to further improve its compact prosumer par excellence.

You are now being officially presented both Sony RX1R, whose difference from the RX1 is only the absence of the anti-aliasing filter on the full-frame sensor, and the Sony RX100 II, which is an important step compared with the previous Sony RX100.

As far as the appearance is virtually unchanged and also the name suggests a minimal upgrade, Sony RX100 II brings many important improvements on many aspects. It starts from the sensor, a renewed CMOS Exmor-R backlit 20.2 MP, which promises an improvement in image quality with low light by about 40%. The goal does not change, it is always the excellent Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T * equiv. 28-100mm f/1.8-4 with aperture, 9 and macro functionality.

Among the novelties of importance must be mentioned without a doubt the inclusion of Wi-Fi, great for quickly checking their shots, and even the NFC module, for the first time available on a Sony camera. Thanks to the latter a quick touch to share pictures with smart phones and other devices equipped with this technology.

The RX100 II still does not have the integrated viewfinder, but the sled ” Multi Interface Shoe ” allows the use of new external devices, such as remote control, microphone or viewfinder. The lack of the eyepiece is mitigated.

By the new Xtra Fine LCD WhiteMagic 3″ and 1,229,000 points, which improve the quality thanks to the technology Triluminos Colour, already present on the monitor BRAVIA, and the possibility of inclination of 84° to upwards and 45° downwards. In this way, the use becomes decidedly easier and allows to obtain shots most original and have the screen optimally than the light sources.

The new Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 II also has a flash, and stereo microphone lets you record video in Full HD 24p/25p. This new jewel who combines technology and photo quality will be available in stores from mid-July.
