How to install the antivirus on your computer

The antivirus has always been an indispensable tool for web browsing, in particular, if you use a Windows platform. It protects you from malware, spyware and other viruses, which could infect your computer and compromise its performance.

Before starting anything else it is essential to install a good antivirus. Here’s how to install the antivirus on your computer.

Currently on the web, there are dozens of free antiviruses with excellent performance, easy to install and secure. The most famous are: Avast, Antivir, AVG, but also Microsft Security Essential, the free antivirus created by Microsoft. So choose one and install it from the official website.

Before proceeding with the installation, however, remember to uninstall the pre-installed test antivirus on your computer. Normally, a newly purchased PC is provided with a test antivirus (with the duration, generally, of 6 months). At the end of the period, you are directed to the antivirus site to purchase it.

If you have a Windows 8 version just go to ” Search ” and type in the name of the antivirus or else in the ” Start ” screen click on the arrow on the bottom left and from there go to the antivirus icon. At that point, right-click and from the drop-down menu that opens, click ” uninstall “. For those with a Windows 7 or earlier version, the procedure is this: click on ” Start ” and, immediately afterwards, on ” Control Panel “.

When the system restarts, you can proceed with the installation of the new downloaded antivirus. Go to the folder containing the downloaded antivirus program (usually in the ” download ” folder) and click on it to start the installation.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is an excellent program, it is advisable to correctly perform the following operations before starting the installation: Make sure that the computer meets the system requirements for Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Check if there are other Kaspersky Lab products if they are incompatible with other vendors anti-virus software.

If you have incompatible software from another vendor or another Kaspersky Lab product installed on your computer, remove it. Close all running applications. If you install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on Windows 8 or 8.1, switch to the desktop by clicking the corresponding button in the modern user interface.
