How to repair a printer

The life of a printer is not eternal and very often we realize just when we need to print a document important or urgent. Normally, such a device is used for small documents; for those more bulky, fact is more suitable to use a photocopier. In this way, they reduce the waiting time, since the printer is a device rather slow.

In case of problems we can decide to run immediately to a service center, buy a new printer (with the cost now reduced) or try to repair the unit.

1.) A common problem occurs when the printer does not recognize the cartridges. Maybe it is not obvious to point out that it is better to use only original cartridges; This problem often occurs with compatible products. As a first step, you can remove and reinstall the cartridges but if the problem persists and the light continues to indicate an error, you may need to open the printer’s top cover to check the free movement of the carriage and that there are no pieces of paper or other elements that hinder the full movement. Another solution might be to replace the cartridges. But if the first attempt does not give positive results, it is necessary to repair by a qualified technician.

2.) The printer will eat card? This can occur when too many sheets are inserted into the input tray when the document to be printed consists of many pages or when using recycled paper. To solve the problem, we must reduce the number of sheets in the tray and refuel more often, or carry out the release of the document several times (making it sit for a few minutes the printer) or, again, using new sheets. You can use recycled paper for taking notes or whatever, but it is important that the sheets into the printer does not have wrinkles. Another factor that can prevent the device from working properly is the presence of foreign bodies (pieces of paper, clips, staples …).

3.) And if the printer is turned on but not printing? Sometimes you just need a moment to unplug from the electricity supply and turn it on again, or uninstall and reinstall the driver. But if not enough, be sure to periodically update the driver.
