HTC 8X will not be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile

HTC UK confirms the failure to update the HTC 8X to Windows 10 Mobile. The latest software release designed to smartphone, introduced on the market in late 2012, will then Windows Phone 8.1.

HTC 8X, together with his younger brother, HTC 8S, was the latest attempt by the Taiwanese manufacturer to make inroads in the European market, offering a high-end smartphone based on Windows Phone – you remember that HTC One M8 with Windows has never been marketed in Europe. The smartphone has been distributed with the operating system Windows Phone 8 and later upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1. In theory, as repeatedly stated even by Microsoft, the most terminals Windows Phone 8.1 are candidates to receive an upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, but, obviously, there are some exceptions, as in the case of HTC 8X.

To dispel any doubt about intervened recently HTC UK itself, through the official Twitter account. The company states explicitly:

No further updates to the Windows Phone HTC 8X at the time.

A decision is not surprising, on the one hand, if you think that the HTC 8X is on the market for over three years, although, for completeness, it should be noted that Lumia devices sold during the same period will not give to the Update.

In September, some HTC 8X used by Windows users Insider had been updated by mistake, but the device has never been officially supported by the program that lets you try out a preview build of the new mobile operating system Micorosoft. Relations between HTC and Microsoft, for many months, show no concrete signs of a rapprochement. The latest Windows Phone 8.1 is manufactured by HTC One M8 with Windows (introduced in 2014 only in the US) and even the arrival of Windows 10 Mobile has been able to alter the commercial policy of Taiwan in the smartphone arena, broadly based Android operating system.
