HTC One M9 with Snapdragon 810 and 20MP camera

HTC totally changes the approach to segment photo of his new HTC One M9, choosing a generous 20-megapixel sensor. In terms of design, there are no big changes, but we do not complain.

We have just concluded the event in which the Taiwanese HTC have finally lifted the veil from one of the most anticipated smartphone of the current generation, which is the new iteration of the family at the top of the range One.

HTC One M9 is not very different from its predecessor in terms of aesthetics, and we can certainly consider it a failure. One M8 was one of the most successful smartphones of last generation in terms of design, it was decided to keep the dress and only revolutionize the entire hardware platform.

The heart of the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of integrated storage. Very interesting choice on the part of the Taiwanese to integrate a display only Full HD, falling short by a lot, probably, from what will the direct competitors. Where Samsung probably will incorporate a display Quad HD, HTC is showing more conservative, thus allowing for a higher level of performance, weight and battery life shorter. It is maintained the diagonal of the display, which remains by 5 inches.

The battery will be 2,840 mAh, while the two-front speakers BoomSound this time will be optimized by Dolby Laboratories, renowned audio technology companies. HTC radically changes approach with regard to the aspect photo, and we dare to say finally. HTC One M7 and M8 were using technology UltraPixel combined with a 4 MP sensor alone, to provide an optimal detail in all circumstances, even and especially on a night shots.

An approach that looked interesting on paper, but in practice did not allow the two previous generations of devices to compete on equal terms with the competition. The Taiwanese correct the shot with HTC One M9, installing a BSI sensor from well 20 megapixel f/2.2 can record 4K video. The module is unfortunately not optically stabilized, lack that could be felt especially in the shots in the dark.

HTC has not yet completely abandoned the technology UltraPixel, relegating it to the front module for self-shots of higher quality when lighting conditions are not optimal. On an aesthetic level, as we wrote above, there are no sensational news: the new HTC One M9 uses a unibody aluminum body very similar in shape and size than its predecessor, while the characterization is all new ” dual-tone “.

HTC One M9 will be proposed in the colors Silver/Gold-Rose, completely new colors that add to the traditional Gunmetal Grey. The device will be commercially launched in Italy in the month of April at a price not yet announced, along with a whole range of official accessories such as the traditional cover HTC Dot View and further cover IP68. Only later will the exclusive variant Gold.
