Microsoft Office: Available on all Android smartphones

The most popular productivity suite finally arrives on all Android smartphones compatible. This was announced by Microsoft after about five months of public beta.

During the day on Wednesday, Microsoft announced the arrival of the Office suite of Android smartphones. The available applications are the three most famous and popular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, which already were released in the second half of May in the preview version. Interested users can now download them directly from Google Play Store, and of course no longer require any subscription to the phases of public beta.

Office was released in January for Android tablets based on ARM architecture, even then after a short phase of the preview. It was later expanded compatibility with devices with Intel processors, but the app for smartphones has had to wait a few more months. The wait is over anyway, and as of yesterday Microsoft Office runs on all Android devices more recent, be they smartphones, tablets, Intel or ARM.

The three applications of the Microsoft Office suite can be carried out specifically on devices running Android 4.4 or later with at least 1 GB of RAM. Of smartphone features, they are clearly outnumbered, as well as the user experience is significantly compromised due to the small size of the display. It is suitable especially for quick editing and rather basic, with specific options for each application in the suite.

Office for Android offers the integration of OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive and other online storage services to back the documents to edit or save them to the cloud. There are four reasons why the company is recommended for use on mobile phones: revisions and changes in mobility, presentations from your smartphone, quick access to documents and ease of access. Microsoft has indeed worked with over thirty partners to preinstall the suite of various models expected to debut in the coming months.
