New Noctua low profile heat sinks: Compatible with AMD Ryzen AM4 socket.

Noctua presents two updates to its range of low profile heat sinks: they are the successors of the NH-L9a and NH-L12, the new models are called NH-L9a-AM4 and NH-L12S, both also suitable to be mounted on AM4 socket of Ryzen AMD processors.

Noctua presents two updates to its range of low profile heat sinks: they are the successors of the NH-L9a and NH-L12, the  new models are called NH-L9a-AM4 and NH-L12S, both also suitable to be mounted on AM4 socket of Ryzen AMD processors.

” AMD has made a big impact on the market with its Ryzen architecture, and the platform will become even more interesting for HTPC compact constructions when the next Ryzen-based APUs will be  introduced next year, ” says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO) ” So we’re updating two of our award-winning low-profile models to support AMD Ryzen AM4. ”

Noctua NH-L9a-AM4The NH-L9a-AM4, the smallest of the two, has a height of only 37 mm, including the fan mounted on the top, this feature makes it one of the most suitable heatsink for HTPC compact systems or in any situation where it is really present little space above the processor, moreover, the dimensions contained in 92×114 mm guarantee full compatibility with all adjacent RAM banks and PCIe cards, even on mini-ITX motherboards; equipped with a revised SecuFirm2 mounting system and a Noctua NF-A9x14 92 mm fan, equipped with PWM speed control, is suitable for Ryzen AMD processors with recommended TDP up to 95 W.

However, as far as the new S version of the well-known NH-L12 is concerned, it is not only enriched with the AM4 socket specification, but also offers greater installation flexibility and improved performance, thanks to the new NF-A12x15 PWM low height fan 120 mm, in the previous version was 92 mm, mounted in the lower part of the wing fins. The Noctua NH-L12S measures 128×146 mm and is 70 mm high, is compatible with RAM modules up to 45 mm in height and is recommended for processors with TDP of 95 W.

The NH-L9a-AM4 is only compatible with AMD AM4 sockets, while the big brother is practically universal: guaranteed to be mounted on sockets Intel LGA115, LGA2050, LGA2066, LGA2011-0, LGA20xx and AMD AM2, AM2, AM3, AM3, AM4, FM1, FM2, FM2.
